Let there be light!
In 2022, All Saints' Church is embarking on an ambitious project to replace the church lighting, creating a brighter, lighter and more energy efficient space that is more welcoming and inviting.
Purpose-designed pendant lights will replace the domestic light fittings in the nave
CES Lighting, who designed new fittings to illuminate the Thomas Hardy altarpiece uncovered in 2016, has produced a proposal for lighting in the chancel and nave. They also propose to update and repair the wiring to meet modern standards of safety and control. The new system will be neat and practical for decades to come and will both enhance our worship and make the building more suitable for wider community use.
The PCC was inspired to undertake this work by a generous private bequest made in 2021 for the preservation or renovation of the fabric of the building for the benefit of the church and community. In consultation with parishioners this was agreed to be the best use of this donation.
Combined with contributions from the PCC and Church Hall Committee, £22,000 has already been raised. This is enough to begin the first phase of the project: relighting the chancel. Substantial fundraising efforts are required to realise phase 2: re-wiring and phase three: lighting the nave. The total cost of the proposed works is £55,000 (plus VAT which should be reclaimable).

Designs from CES will be on display in church from Sunday 24 April. Please consider supporting All Saints' Church to reach this goal as you are able.
